This work represents the learning, therapy, play, and discovery that happen at the Valley center programs for marginalized children. We hope that through art the kids can begin to find their voices to speak their unique word to our world. Most days we are just trying to coral a room of squirrelly school kids, or figuring out a project that the street youth might feel successful at.

 

Flower garden painting - Nov 2006
	The kids were given 10x10cm squares with simple blind contour drawings of organic lines and shapes.  They were asked to paint them in.  When they were finished all the pieces were put back together.

Sand trap drawings - September 2006
	Kids were invited to draw in sand which was set up in an old window frame. The sand relaxed many of the kids inviting them to a low risk drawing experience.

Collaborative Landscapes - Camp 2006
	Kids were roken up into groups and set on a hill to draw and color the Romanian country landscape together.

Ink Blot Project - Summer 2006
	Kids dropped ink on a page and spread it out by blowing through a straw and then interpreted the composition.

Country Scenes - Summer 2006
	Street boys used sticks cardboard, glue and paint to depict Romania country scenes. It is always interesting to see homeless boys depict a home.

Ek Dui Deshudui
	This series of stills were a collaborative effort with the kids, to offer images and sound clips that give one a taste of the character and personality of kids at risk. The kids were given sentence starters, and pages with a dancer, and with eyes and noses to fill in as they liked.
