May 2007 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends,

I am writing this letter just a few days after our Easter celebrations here in Galati.  The time with the kids this year was really fun.  We invited all of the parents to take part in the festivities this year, as well.  And quite a few of them came!  It was very cool.

The kids put on a great show for their parents and for us workers complete with singing worship songs, reciting the Easter story in poem form, and even a puppet show sharing the true meaning of Easter.  After the show, all of the kids got to take a crack at the piñata, an annual tradition for us now.  The younger children gave a good try, but failed to do any real damage.

But when it came to the older kids, things got interesting.  Bits and pieces of candy started leaking out with each hit.  And the second to last child (a girl, for those of you keeping score at home) delivered the decisive blow.  More than twenty children jumped on top of the spilled candy and on top of each other.  I caught it on video if you're in the mood to laugh sometime.

Afterward, we shared a huge meal together.  It was a beautiful, sunny day which meant we were able to have the meal outside.  It took almost all of the tables and chairs we have here at the center to accommodate everyone, but accommodate everyone we did and there was plenty of food to go around, too.  Like I said, we had a great time.  Thank you so much for your prayers.

We've already started looking ahead to the end of the school year and into this coming summer.  We're making camp plans and the kids are talking about year-end exams.  I think that's my prayer request for this month.  Toward the end of May and on into June many of the kids (and all of our staff members who are currently taking university courses) enter into exam time.  Please pray that the peace of Christ will cover them in these days.  Pray that each and every one of the children will finish the year strong.

Love,
Paul
