August 2007 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends,

It has been wonderful to connect with many of you during our time in the US.    We wish that we could have seen even more of your faces in the short time.    We are honored by the way many of you faithfully read these prayer letters and mention us and the children to God in prayer.    You have really become a part of the work God is doing in Romania.

Our treat it to be with you and see the ways God has been working in your lives.    It is fun to see themes in our journeys with God, themes, of obedience, of making hard decisions for our families, of continuing the struggle to find faith and live it out in our daily habits and patterns of life.    Many of your lives inspire and humble us.   Some have responded to Gods heart for the poor through welcoming kids into your families through adoption and foster care, some through visiting the homeless in prisons and local jails, and some through just making family life a priority.

We have been privileged to be part of the Word Made Flesh staff retreat in Omaha.   It has been a great time to reconnect and remember our common call and identity in serving Christ among the poor.   We have been reminded that much of our important work it to love our spouses and our families and allow those to be a light to the world.    Many of you have been that light for us as well.    Thank you for being faithful and committed, and making hard decisions for your relationships and your families.

Monica recently said to me, 'I love our life'.   I couldn't get it out of my head for a week or so.    It helped me realize and name that despite life struggles and setbacks in ministry, we are in a wonderful and privileged place.    Many of these letters have been reflections on the hard struggles we have been through but despite them God has given us a grace to really enjoy and be grateful for the wonderful life He has given us.

August for us will mean intense times with kids and parents at camps and then preparing for school to start and planning for the new year.     Do pray for us as a family as we are getting settled back into our rhythm of life in Romania.   Also, pray for us to break ground on building a house for our family together with Lau and Vali.

Again we are just grateful that many of you have chosen to partner with us in our work in Romania.   Thank you.  If you are interested do check Monica's bog for recent pictures of the boys (www.monicaklepac.blogspot.com) and the art blog for community art (www.artincommunityamongthepoor.blogspot.com)

In Christ,

Joel Klepac
