Word Made Flesh serves Jesus among the poorest of the poor. Our primary object of service is Jesus to whom we minister in prayer, worship, and responding to the needs of the “least of these.” Because Jesus identifies with the poor and proclaims the good news to the poor, His people do the same.

The most marginalized in Romania are the children. Our community began by building relationships with children living on the streets. We discovered that some of them were abandoned by their parents and left in state institutions. Others ran away from broken and abusive families. After many years on the streets, the children suffer from drug addiction, attachment disorders, and the lack of education.

By intervening before the children develop addictions to street life, we have helped them stay in their families and off the streets. However, these children live in poor families and are at risk of dropping out of school, begging, and running away. The girls, in particular, are at risk of being taken into prostitution.

By helping the children stay in their families, we are also committed to serving the families. Many of them come from broken families and, therefore, do not have skills for parenting. Many of them are illiterate and cannot help their children with homework. Many of them are unemployed and cannot afford three meals a day, let alone clothing and school supplies.
